Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the October 18, 2012 meeting were approved (MSP) with the following correction: The Sheriff’s Department community meetings for Carmichael take place at
Del Campo High School (not El Camino as previously reported).

Treasurer’s Report:  There was no treasurer’s report.   There was one reimbursement (MSP via
email):  Anne Berner, $114.97, for copying minutes and membership renewal supplies.

Membership:  Anne Berner reported that it is membership renewal time.  As of this meeting, 91 households have renewed for 2012-2013.  Note:  A membership renewal form is included with
these minutes for those members who have not yet renewed.

Old Business:

  • Annual Meeting:  The annual meeting of the CCNA membership was held Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Carmichael Library.  The meeting was very well attended and the speakers were exceptional. Board members felt that the neighborhood signs encouraged attendance and that the newsletter (which we deliver to all households within the CCNA boundaries right before the meeting) should be continued.  It was suggested that a column be added to the sign-in sheets to gather information on how attendees heard about the meeting.  It was proposed that the next meeting be scheduled for October, 2013.  One of the sandwich-board signs announcing the meeting was lost. Sandie Dunn will contact Carmichael Colony (since the signs were borrowed from that organization) to determine the best way to replace the sign.

  • Donation to Preserve Sutter-Jensen Park:  Board members would like to make a donation dedicated to the memories of Joe Patitucci, Dale Wilson, Kim Meyer, Bill Berry and Frank Weisman.  The Sutter-Jensen committee will be asked if a bridge (or other permanent structure) could carry the name of the CCNA if a sizeable donation is made to the park.  A plaque would memorialize the members.

  • Checking of Treasurer’s Books:  Lora Cammack will report on the routine checking of the treasurer’s books at the January meeting.

New Business

  • Election of Officers:  The following officers were elected for 2012-2013:  Manda Ness and Anne Berner will serve as co-presidents; Julia Reyes and Cindy Younger will be co-vice-presidents; Sharon Doughty was elected treasurer and Riki Merrick was elected secretary.
  • Donation to ARNHA:  For the past several years, the CCNA has made a donation to support the American River Natural History Association (ARNHA).  Sandie Dunn moved that we continue to support ARNHA at the Sustainer Level ($500). Richard Humphrey seconded and the motion passed.
  • Meeting with Carmichael-Old Foothill Farms Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC):  After much discussion, it was proposed that we invite the members of the Carmichael-Old Foothill Farms CPAC to our March meeting.  Members felt that it would be beneficial for CPAC members to know about the purpose and goals of our neighborhood association.  This will be a joint meeting with the Carmichael Colony Neighborhood Association.  Sandie Dunn, Manda Ness and Anne Berner volunteered to plan the meeting. Additionally, Manda Ness and Anne Berner will contact the County Planning Department to ask them to notify the CCNA whenever new members are appointed to the CPAC and whenever projects that affect our area will be considered by the CPAC.
  • Joint Holiday Party with the Directors of the Carmichael Colony Neighborhood Association:  It was announced that board members of both organizations will hold a joint holiday party in December.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Anne Berner

Acting Secretary
