A thank you letter from ARNHA was received for the donation approved at the November, 2012 meeting.

Membership:  Anne Berner reported that the membership stands at 129 households.  Note:  A membership renewal form is included with these minutes for those members who have not yet renewed their 2012-2013 membership.

Old Business:

  • Donation to Preserve Sutter-Jensen Park:  After much discussion, it was decided to donate $3000.00 (motion by Lora Cammack, second by Anne Berner) for phase 1 (trail and entrance upgrades) of the development of Sutter-Jensen Park.  It was felt that such a donation is in keeping with the purpose of the CCNA to “preserve open space, a semi-rural residential character, and the general quality of life within the Carmichael Creek Neighborhood Preservation Area.”
  • Checking of Treasurer’s Books:  Lora Cammack reported that the books are in order and reconciled with the bank statements. She will update some of our accounting procedures and distribute them to the Board. The Board thanked Lora for her time and effort.
  • Meeting with Carmichael-Old Foothill Farms Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC) members:  Anne Berner will ask county planner Tricia Stevens if it would be possible, at a March CPAC meeting, to introduce our neighborhood associations and their missions to the CPAC members. If this cannot be accomplished, we will invite the CPAC members to a joint meeting with the Carmichael Colony Neighborhood Association. Anne and Manda Ness will pursue ways to obtain more timely information about the appointments of new CPAC members and development projects within the CCNA boundaries.
  • Replacement of Carmichael Colony sign:  This topic was postponed until the next meeting.

New Business:

  • Report regarding CPAC decision of property at 3624 Hollister Avenue:  Anne Berner reported that CPAC members (in a December meeting) decided to allow a use permit for the property owner to legalize the unpermitted buildings on the property. The owner will pay fines and retroactively obtain permits and inspections to legalize ancillary structures that exceed 50% of the habitable floor area of the primary dwelling.
  • Crime in our area/Report on Sheriff’s Community Meetings:  Laverne Shell and Manda Ness spoke about reports of crime in our area. They reiterated the importance of Neighborhood Watch programs and reminded us that the Sheriff’s Department holds community meetings on the third Thursday of January, March, May, September and November at 6:00 p.m. in the Del Campo High School Library. For more information, contact Sherrie Carhart, Crime Prevention Specialist at 876-5700. Information can also be obtained through Facebook:  Carmichael Watchgroup and Carmichael Crime. • CCNA Activities for the year:
    • March:  Joint meeting with Carmichael Colony and CPAC members.
    • April, July, October:  Boulevard Brush-Ups.  A date for the April Brush-Up was set for April 14 at 9:00 a.m.  We’ll meet by the tennis courts in Carmichael Park.
    • September:  CCNA newsletter to all residents within our area to announce the October annual meeting.
    • October:  Annual meeting.  A tentative date was set for October 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Carmichael Library.
    • Future joint meetings with Carmichael Colony Neighborhood Association:  No dates set.

The next CCNA Board meeting will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Carmichael Library.  All CCNA members are encouraged to attend.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Riki Merrick, Secretary
